Delegation from the Tempelhof-Schöneberg District Office (Berlin) visits the Eurodistrict
by Caroline Romang
On 25 June, the TEB welcomed a delegation from the Tempelhof-Schöneberg District Office as part of an exchange on cross-border cooperation. After a morning at the Building Department of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, the Berlin representatives met the TEB team at the Alpha building in Saint-Louis, where a general presentation of the Eurodistrict and the 3Land project took place. On this occasion, particular attention was given to the Interreg project Pont-3Land, a feasibility study led by the TEB for a new bridge over the Rhine in the 3Land, which is intended to carry a public transport line, pedestrian and cycle paths as well as a green corridor, thereby promoting active and sustainable mobility. A discussion session followed.
In the afternoon, the group took a walking tour of the 3Land area. The route led to the Passerelle des Trois Pays and the Vis-à-vis Park, which connects the banks of Huningue and Weil am Rhein. The visit allowed the Berlin partners to gain a concrete understanding of the challenges of cross-border spatial planning at the heart of the Upper Rhine, and to exchange views on the dynamics of cooperation between neighbouring local authorities on both sides of the borders.
