Open space and nature conservation concept (2020)
The open space and conservation concept demonstrates the 3Land partners' commitment to preserving the area's ecological richness while meeting the challenges posed by the area's transformation.
Green and open spaces form the backbone of the 3Land area, ambitious urban development projects are linked to them. The partners of the 3Land spatial development project therefore promote ecological networking across borders. A balanced offer of open and natural spaces should be quickly accessible for all residents of the neighborhood around the 3Land area.
The joint concept is based on an inventory analysis of the existing natural and open spaces in the 3Land and proposes concrete measures. These are implemented by the cities individually or in cross-border cooperation. The Rhine is at the center of these measures. Its banks are to be made more easily accessible to the population. Green spaces and public squares are to be used in a variety of ways and invite people to spend time there. Finally, the biotope corridor will also be implemented.
The open space and nature conservation concept 3Land is not only a key document for the further open space and nature conservation planning in Weil am Rhein, Basel, Huningue and Saint-Louis, but also serves as a working tool, set of rules and an argumentation aid for the upcoming urban development projects.
